Kinsale Hazy Summer Mead (11% ABV) is a wonderful, fruity, dry berry mead with generous strawberry and raspberry aromas, a lovely dose of summer berries and a smooth, soft honey finish.
Blackberries, black currants and cherries on the palate and blueberries and wild honey on the finish.
Perfect served slightly chilled alone or in a shared pitcher with ice and frozen fruit. Like a glass of summer in any weather. This deliciously light and fruity mead is a refreshing alternative to light red or rosé wine. It is fermented from pure honey mixed with a bunch of ripe summer berries with almost no sweetness. A popular choice or gift for cocktail and beer and gin drinkers.
It pairs beautifully with spiced chicken wings, light curries or salads with raspberry vinaigrette, or try it with honey-glazed ham or traditional roast turkey. For dessert, we love it with berry cheesecake.
Like other Kinsale Mead Co meads, Hazy Summer Mead is made in Ireland's first mead for 200 years in the historic and food-loving town of Kinsale on the Wild Atlantic Way in West Cork.
Awards came quickly for this interesting reworking of an ancient drink, winning Gold at the Blas na hEireann Irish Food Awards at the International Mazer Cup, Silver at the European Mead Madness Cup and a 1 star (Simply delicious) Great Taste Award.
