Mint from our potštejn gardens
It took a lot of mint to make my mint mead idea a reality. We started harvesting in front of our post office, but it was immediately clear that it was not enough. So we continued in the garden of our house and eventually we also got mint from my grandmother's garden.
I added fresh, freshly picked mint to the honey, enjoying its typical fresh aroma and looking forward to tasting the mead for the first time. And now I can say that the mint mead was a really good idea!
How does mint mead taste?
Although the strong aroma of mint is softened by the sweet smell of honey, you can recognize it in the mead at the first sniff, the intense, fresh smell of mint will take you pleasantly :-)
And it doesn't disappoint when tasting either. Exactly as expected, it wakes you up with its aroma, infuses you with a refreshing peppermint flavor with a soft, sweet honey undertone and pleasantly wakes you up. The admixture of mint in mead is so original that it takes the taste of mead to a new level, you wouldn't even say it's actually mead :-)
The typical fresh taste and aroma of mint may slightly remind you of homemade mint lemonade and perhaps also your favorite mojito. Mint mead will certainly be a great choice for preparing various mixed drinks. Unless, of course, you don't recognize that it's too bad for her to mix. Because it tastes wonderful, windy sweet on its own.
