Meadery in Mexico

Hrothgar Craft Brewery® is a small meadery active since 2012 and named after the legendary 6th century Danish king Hrothgar, mentioned in the old Anglo-Saxon poem Beowulf, which recounts the exploits of this hero.

Our mission is to create the best meads and bring the authentic taste of artisanal mead to everyone's palate.

Our drinks are a true reflection of our philosophy, without fear to experimentation, challenging limits and paying attention to every detail, unraveling the alchemical secrets of each process: from the cultivation and selection of honey, to fermentation. So that the elixir obtained offers a whole range of experiences that persist in memory.

The elaboration of our products is attached to the authentic way of producing mead, using a selection of the best bee honeys from Mexican beekeepers and 100% natural ingredients without the use of preservatives. That is why Hrothgar is committed to the quality and authenticity of its products.

Our endless search for new flavors creates new seasonal and experimental drinks that will gradually bring a wide variety of meads and beers with a unique personality for all tastes.

History

Hrothgar Craft Brewery® is a small meadery created in Mexico City, 2012, by Rod and Oliver Swain brothers. Its variety of meads are handcrafted by Mead Master Rod Swain who has made mead at home since 2003. We have won awards in Mexico and Latin America.

Mead production

Currently at 2020 we have 9 varieties of mead. Our philosophy is to perfect every process of each variety before the launch of a new one, so we don't want to have a lot of varieties and styles without a well conscientious production.
