Mellivora

  • ZA02

Small batch meadery focused on celebrating the botanical diversity of South Africa in a sustainable and conscious manner

At Mellivora, we specialise in creating delicious meads from ethically sourced, indigenous South African honey. We have a strong belief in letting nature be our guide, and thus our meads are produced in small batches which allow us to highlight the seasonal characteristics of each honey we brew with.

Our small-batch brewing process gives us the freedom to explore and celebrate the vast botanical diversity of South Africa, through the creation of unique meads rich in flavour, and steeped in history. Most importantly, it allows us to do this while not needing to put excess pressure on native pollinators and their ecosystems.

Mead production

We focus on small, batch fermentation followed by ageing in oak and stainless steel. We have a philosophy that good mead takes time and thus the process is left to run for as long as needed to produce great mead.
